Tesla dituduh menipu soal kemampuan mobilnya di media sosial. Informasi yang disampaikan perusahaan milik Elon Musk soal kendaraan otonom disebut bisa membahayakan pengemudi di jalan raya.
Informasi yang diunggah di akun X itu terkait sopir tidak perlu mengendalikan mobilnya. Dalam hal ini yang dimaksud beroperasi sendiri atau Full Self-Driving atau FSD.
Badan Keselamatan Lalu Lintas Jalan Raya (NHTSA) Amerika Serikat padahal menyatakan unggahan tersebut tidak benar karena sopir harus terus mengawasinya kendaraan meskipun menggunakan sistem FSD.
“Unggahan Tesla bertentangan dengan pesan yang menyebut pengemudi harus mengendalikan kemudi yang dinamis,” kata Gregory Magno dari NHTSA dalam email kepada dewan Tesla bulan Mei lalu, dikutip dari CNBC Internasional, Selasa (12/11/2024).
Pengemudi tetap memiliki tugas mengendalikan mobil dan siap mengambil alih kemudi atau mengerem kapan saja.
Surat bulan Mei itu diharapkan bisa dijawab Tesla hingga 18 Desember 2024 mendatang. Batas akhir tersebut juga bisa diperpanjang.
Email juga menyertakan permintaan informasi lengkap soal mobil perusahaan dan teknologi FSD.
Magno menyertakan unggahan Tesla soal kemampuan mengemudi sendiri. Salah satunya menunjukkan pengemudi bisa pergi ke rumah sakit dengan mobil FSD dan pengemudi yang menggunakan teknologi itu untuk perjalanan pulang selama 50 menit.
Tesla juga menyatakan keuntungan menggunakan FSD dalam keadaan mabuk ataupun lelah. Perusahaan milik Musk itu mendapatkan denda US$135,8 juta. Ini terjadi jika mereka tidak bisa menanggapi surat tersebut.
Sejumlah penyelidikan dilakukan NHTSA pada kemampuan FSD Tesla. Menyusul sejumlah tabrakan dalam waktu 30 detik setelah benturan.
Selain itu satu kejadian terkait FSD membuat pengemudi Tesla menabrak pejalan kaki. Korban tewas karena kejadian tersebut.
Tesla tidak segera menanggapi permintaan untuk berkomentar soal peringatan NHTSA.
